To give you an idea of how much I loved this book, I started it at 9:25 at night and finished it just after the 11 o'clock news was coming on. What a lovely, heart-breaking, frightening book. I don't know whether this was an actual adult novel (as promoted) or a novel for young people (though perhaps not quite as young as The Graveyard Book), but I think it is my favorite of his books.
A middle aged man (who I thought at first was quite old, actually, then realized was probably only around 50) has returned to his hometown for a funeral, and wanders until he comes to his childhood home and the important house at the end of the lane.
