First the Joe Hill's wonderful NOS4R2 and now this - loving the recent output of the family. JOYLAND is quintessential King, but, due likely to the format and/or the requirements of the Hard Case Crime series, it's TIGHT, so if you've ever complained that you like King but he's far too long-winded, this is definitely a book for you.

Definitely not classic King and not what I expected from the cover, but I enjoyed this. It was sweet and nostalgic and a little bit creepy, and I loved the slightly down on its luck coastal theme park setting. I love, too, how he writes side characters - takes his time, gives them a back story, and makes you care about them.

This was totally not what I was expecting from a Stephen King novel. I very nearly gave up on it as it is quite slow, but I'm glad I stuck with it. An enjoyable read.
