One shouldn't expect a happy ending when reading a book about two teenagers with a terminal illness falling in love. Regardless, I don't recommend reading this in public.

It's a coming of age tale, sped up by the potential of a short life. A look into the thoughts and feelings of people who feel the end near, thus focus on the things which are important to them.
