This was my 4th John Green book and man, this guy is a talented story teller. As with all his books I tend to roll my eyes a lot at the impossibly clever dialogue and witty banter that is just not believable for teenagers—or most people in general, really. The number of one-liners in each conversations is kind of over the top. That said, this is fiction for entertainment, even if it's MAKE-YOU-WEEP entertainment, and it can be kind of fun to imagine that teenagers might have conversations like t ...more

When The Fault in Our Stars by John Green was picked as the October selection for book club, I was worried that I would not be able to finish it on time as there was a long wait list at the library. Once I got the book and started reading, I was hooked and could not read fast enough. The book blew me away with the sadness, sweetness and humor that came from almost every chapter. Excellent book. Cancer does indeed suck and seeing the works through a dying teenager brings this home that much more. Despite the topic, the book pulls you in to her world. Both funny and devastating.
