When The Fault in Our Stars by John Green was picked as the October selection for book club, I was worried that I would not be able to finish it on time as there was a long wait list at the library. Wow, this is a really great book, full of witty dialogues, smart teenagers, inspirational quotes..and a heartbreaking plot. I do want to give it 5 stars, but somehow there's something amiss for me in this book, and I can't quite place what it is. Probably the too smart dialogue or the emotional void of the main character? Sometimes I felt this way, when a guy wrote a book with female main character. Oh well, I'm still gonna read more John Greens anyway, so we'll see how the other books make me f

A love story about teenagers with cancer. I know, it sounds awful...I thought so too which is why I took so long to get around to reading this one. I was missing out! This is the perfect blend of the sarcasm of teenagers, the existential questions of humanity, and the excitement of young love.

A quick read, but not a simple one, punctuated with unexpected depth and sharp humor. It's sweet, but not cloying. It's like a love letter to life. Or a eulogy.
