A good, solid mystery. The questions raised by the impending asteroid impact are really interesting and do make the story more engaging rather than distracting from it. But ironically it was setting it in Concord that bugged me more. He makes the setting such a central part of the story, when he does get little details wrong it just irks me. Granted these are little details that only someone who lived there would know (i.e. you wouldn't say "Langley Parkway and Route 9", you'd say Langley and Pl

"What's the point in solving murders if we're all going to die soon anyway?" That's the opening line of the blurb for The Last Policeman. And after having finished it I'm not sure I can answer that question. Perhaps that's just what you do when you know an asteroid is going to hit the earth in 8 months? You keep doing your job?
