I'll be honest- I had to skim a large part of this book.
The storytelling pieces and the lyrical writing and language itself were wonderful. But it didn't hold my attention as a novel. I think it is important to write the stories of what happens after the war is considered over, when people try to remake their lives. I think it is important to tell about the diverse kinds of aftereffects. It is important for these books to exist. I just didn't feel connected to the large ensemble and never could ...more
