Witty, cute, lovely and humorous - just like I like my humor books :)

I'd read another humorous essays collection recently by another female comedian (no need to mention her name here) and was sorely disappointed by the whole thing. In fact it put me off reading other humorous essays for a bit (I was really, really disappointed).

But then I spotted (and read) Mindy Kaling's book and Behold, for my faith was renewed. I read it while recovering from bronchitis and it was just what the doctor ordere

Mindy Kaling talks to her mom on the phone every day. And that's pretty much what this book feels like. It feels like the sort of stories that you get out of someone right after they happened. There's no filter for how interesting it is. There's no time passed and no lessons learned. It's just random bits. Really funny. I loved that most chapters were short and zingy. The humor is very sly, rather than guffaw-inducing.

And I hope that "stylist" never works again.

I won a free copy of this book through a contest on BookRiot and am really happy about it.
Reading it really felt like talking to a best friend.
My only criticism is that it made sad that I will never be Mindy Kaling, which I'm sure is something that she would really love to hear.

I feel like Mindy voiced so much about what my life is like too, apart from being Indian. I loved it and read it quickly. A fun, light read that's totally worth it. ...more
