This children's graphic novel is about growing up, being different, fitting in, and finding people who love you no matter what. Cece Bell loses her hearing after an illness as a kid in the 70s. She learns to communicate using a combo of hearing aids and lip reading, but often struggles with the limitations at the time.

My first read book of 2021 - whoo-hoo! :o)
I enjoyed this graphic novel, an account of the author's childhood experiences with deafness.
At times it felt slightly repetitive - seemed like some of the school grades could've been condensed - but that's a small negative.
I think it's a great introduction to the topic of deafness for younger children and a sweet book all around. ...more
