This was an interesting beginning to a series, set in alt universe where an outbreak of supernatural powers (mostly related to spirits--mediums, augers, etc.) in the mid-1800s leads to a very different 21st century London. It felt a bit like the Philip Pullman Dark Materials series crossed with the Hunger Games. Paige Mahoney is a dream walker, which means she can basically enter others minds. Whoa, that was awesome!
This book wasn't as good as you wanted it to be. The world building was tough to follow and I didn't find Paige, the main character, completely believable. While seven books are planned for this series, I think I'm one and done.
