I’ve seen so many bloggers raving about how amazing Hush, Hush is. After reading Hush, Hush myself I’m wondering if they all read a different book. For me personally Hush, Hush was a dud, dud. I know that sounds harsh, but as always I will make an effort to tell you all why I felt that way.

The biggest problem by far that I had with Hush, Hush is that the characters were so unlikeable. A lot of people have been going on and on about how great Patch is on Twitter, so naturally I expected an awesom I’ve seen so many bloggers raving about how amazing Hush, Hush is. After reading Hush, Hush myself I’m wondering if they all read a different book. For me personally Hush, Hush was a dud, dud. I know that sounds harsh, but as always I will make an effort to tell you all why I felt that way.

The biggest problem by far that I had with Hush, Hush is that the characters were so unlikeable. A lot of people have been going on and on about how great Patch is on Twitter, so naturally I expected an awesome and charming character. Unfortunately, I found Patch to be arrogant, rude, and obnoxious. The reader is expected to believe that Patch has fallen in love with Nora. I had a hard time buying their relationship based on the way that Patch treated Nora through most of the story. From their first meeting in class when Patch asked Nora if she “sleeps in the nude”, to when he all but sexual harasses her during a lecture in sex-ed, Patch’s actions show that he is merely in lust. We are also supposed to believe that Patch redeems himself at the end and becomes a better person, but I didn’t buy it for a second. Sure he makes this great sacrifice, but it didn’t seem realistic given his past behavior.

Describing Nora as naïve would be putting it mildly. Nora spends much of the book running around like a chicken with her head cut off. For example, she gets directions from a bag lady who tells her that she needs to walk down dark alley in a very bad neighborhood! I know this is supposed to be a work of fiction but who does that? It reminded me of one of those scenes from a horror movie where one of the stupid characters goes to unlock a door with a serial killer on the other side. I felt like screaming at the book, “Don’t go down the alley you dumby!”

Nora’s friend errrr… Linda? Lisa? Errr I forgot her name already…oh! Vee? Anyhow, she was one of the most annoying secondary characters I have ever seen. She spends that whole novel blabbing like an airhead. I kept reading in the hopes that someone would eventually kill her off.

I gave Hush, Hush two purrs, so there were some thing that I did like about it. I really loved the idea of falling angels living on earth. I thought that this was a pretty cool concept for a book. The ending was also fairly strong.* While I didn’t believe that Patch truly loved Nora his actions at the end do redeem him somewhat. Most people who read Hush, Hush will probably love it. I think that it might have just not been the book for me. Read it yourself and decide. The chances are you won't agree with me, so go read it anyway! ...more

I love this book! i know i say that to every book i've read, but this book is really addictive. i just can't put it down! read it the whole day! the story may not be all original especially about the fallen angels, nephilim stuff, biology lab partner, and stalking scenes. but the characters stand out! i like Patch! he reminds me of Jace (The Mortal Instruments), but in a mature kind of way. i like the things he says. he's cocky and clever. oh and i forgot to add HOT!
