I recognize this book is a classic -- and I really wanted to like it. But I just couldn't get into it, and TBK ended up taking me over a year to read. Ridiculous, right?
The book was preachy, although sometimes the preachy parts were the most interesting, and at times it felt like everything else was just plot-to-connect-preachy-dialogue/monologues. I remember reading "Crime and Punishment" in high school and thinking that having to read such a thing was a crime AND a punishment. I think I was quite immature back then, literature-wise. Having now read another Dostoyevsky novel, I'm sure I should give that one a second try. This book was quite entertaining. The narration style is captivating, and the characters draw each draw you in to their own tragedies and triumphs. Even the drawn out monologues on Russian philosophy and politics of that
