This was a very detailed book about moss and botany....This should make me run like the wind, but I enjoyed it. I always like when a book spans a huge time frame and does it well. This book does that. I really enjoyed getting to know Alma. Some of the theories in the book I disagree with her and more agree with her counterparts.

I took my time with this novel but in doing so, was able to really savor the poetic language and lingering magic that Gilbert had so deliberately crafted. I hope that if you do read it, you read its entirety because like any novel, you really can't judge the content without its full conveyance. Alma was a tragic and convincing heroine.
