I particularly enjoyed the parts of the book based on Mary Frances Gerety’s life. The interwoven stories with various viewpoints of engagement and marriage were not as dimensional but an interesting story.

I read Maine, which I found entertaining, while at the same time, the book rung with such truth and realistic characters. I feel the same about this novel. I love the various storylines Sullivan creates and then her ability to weave them together subtly left me wanting more. Often, I've found, when other authors attempt this style, the details feel absurd and the meeting of stories forced. Anyway, this one has inspired me to read her first novel, Commencement. ...more
