I'll give 2.5 stars. I bought this book for my daughter when she was in 4th or 5th grade so that being said, it is mean't for that age, maybe middle school too. To say this to is a book about the Titanic is not entirely true. It's actually about spiritualism. If I were reading this as a child I would have been bored to death and probably given it up. I had very high hopes for Distant Waves. The sinking of the Titanic is one of those historical event that has always fascinated me. I’m very sad to report that Distant Waves did even come close to living up to my expectations.

"A Novel of the Titanic" made me think that the majority of the book would be set on the Titanic, but I was mistaken. Only I think three-fourths into the book is the setting on the Titanic. Anyway, the book is about some sisters who live in a town full of fortune-tellers, and two of them want to get away from all that and explore the world.
