A solid reader's hook, attention-grabbing as a punch to the jaw, leads into a solid backdrop of real-life issues and tribulations. An Edinburgh police detective, who had recently lost his young son and whose marriage is subsequently likely to crumble, is sent to his childhood locale, the Isle of Lewis, off the coast of Scotland. A brutal murder has been committed there, nearly matching an earlier murder in Edinburgh.

A slow burning thriller. I liked Fin , a detective that comes back to his hometown after a long time away.
A murder that happens on a close knit island , is the crime that he comes back to solve . He unearths skeletons in his own personal life during the investigation.
A dark , slow but intriguing thriller.
