Started with the audiobook, ended with the actual book and then watched the mini-series.
I am not a huge Jane Austen fan, so I am not invested in the characters and I didn't expect it to read like a Jane Austen novel. Thank goodness, as it does not. There was a lot of talking, explaining and not a lot of action. ...more

Though I enjoyed the story, I feel that PD James hasn't quite captured the essence of Jane Austen. The story took a long time to get to answers that was satisfying to the plot. It was nice to read about Elizabeth and Darcy , but I wish there had been more focus on them and how they were affected by the trauma, trial and subsequent decision at the end of the novel.

2 stars was quite generous for this book. As a fan of all things Pride & Prejudice, even modern sequels, I was intrigued to read a murder mystery sequel....for I am a fan of that genre as well. However, this particular marriage of the two failed...miserably! Sadly I have never read a PD James story and after this, not sure I want to.
