What Members Thought
It's always interesting to read a classic for the first time, you never know what liberties have been taken over the years. One thing that surprised me was how different the relationship between Jack and Silver is from more recent retellings, none of those surrogate father dealings, just gradual hatred and indifference.
Still the story was enthralling enough to keep me interested the whole way through. Definitely worth the read. ...more

Good old-fashioned adventure where the pure of heart win out. Even the bit of good in Long John Silver is rewarded. Maybe a foretaste of Jekyll and Hyde.
