I heard a lot about this author so I bought 4 of her books in a row and this was the first I read. It is impressive how it makes a feminist statement so clearly in a few pages, it should be distributed as pamphlet in schools and workplaces, as a starting guide. I look forward to discover her novels.

There are no earth shattering ideas put forth here, but Adichie’s voice is a valuable contribution to the same old same old. She gives examples from her native Nigerian culture, both older and contemporary and also gives the enlightening perspective of an immigrant to the US. Este es un ensayo sobre la experiencia de la autora con el machismo imperante en el mundo, en especial en Nigeria y Estados Unidos. Además, da su visión sobre el feminismo y lo que debería cambiar en el mundo en pos de avanzar en el tema de la igualdad de sexos.

This is an exceptionally fast read so there's no reason not to pick it up. There's nothing new or revolutionary in what she has to say. It is what has been said over and over and somehow still needs to be repeated. It is important to know that feminism is much like everything else in the world. There are those who have their preconceived notions and ideologies that are not actually akin to the actual meaning of the movement.
