I listened to the audiobook of this one, and I loved it. I usually just listen a little at a time when I'm doing other things, but I made it a point to listen to this one, and I finished it in just a few days time. There are a lot of layers here -- race and culture, family secrets, parental expectations, feelings that people don't share with others, and a mystery about what happened to the main character. The narrator was great.

Such a good book, I literally read this in two days. I love how it's set up -it starts with Lydia's death and then goes back and forth between the present, a few months before when she was alive, and when her parents were younger. Usually I hate when the timeline shifts but it really works in this book.

Wow. This book was heavy. For only 298 pages (Kindle) the book seemed much longer. The title of the book says it all, with everything this family never said and never spoke to each other it made the family implode. This family was destructive and lost a family member and they had to come to terms with that. And their grief process just tears at you because you hurt for them, but also see how destructive it is to the other family members. Yet, all of their situations could be better if they just
