I give this book 2.5 stars really. It wasn't bad, but I don't know that I would recommend it. As my friend described it to me, the book is quite tragic. I'm sad with how it ended and feeling unresolved for one of the characters. It was also extremely slow moving in the beginning. I had to switch to the audio version just to get through it. If I wasn't reading this for a book club, I may have given up. ...more

I am somewhere between a 3 and 4 star rating with this one. I can't say I "really liked" it despite really liking its moral dillema that good and bad choices can sometimes look the same; that one good choice for you can actually harm someone else and the domino effect that choices have. It has a thought provoking premise with some beautiful prose and I can see why it's acclaimed.

I didn't feel strongly toward either of the main characters or their love story and found Isabel grating and not well

This was a wonderfully heart-wrenching read. However, I had a hard time connecting to the characters. I believe that this is because I do not have children, nor have I tried to have children. I am sure that this makes a difference when understanding the characters' decisions.

I felt terrible for Tom the entire book. However, I have read that most people felt bad for Isabel. I am certain that these people have children and understand the need to do whatever is necessary for that child.

Wonderfull

Oh this book....this book killed me inside. I really loved it. So beautiful and so sad, such a tale of forgiveness and loss and love.

What I love about Tom and Isabel is that it wasn't all love and devotion and mush. It was love, of course, and undoubtedly devotion, but there was betrayal, secrets, anger, hatred, despair. It was all parts of a marriage, especially tested by tragedy and loss. Each was wonderful, and flawed. I couldnt get enough of them.

Read it people.

This is basically a Nicholas Sparks book, except set in Australia instead of North Carolina.

Book was OK. Definitely a chick lit type book. Not my favorite genres, but I will read them occasionally.
