This was a difficult book to read, and yet one I didn't want to put down. A story of loss, and love ... a story of life's ugly twists and turns ... good read, and will make great discussion for our book club!

Beautiful, absorbing,felt the joy and sorrow. depicts what happens when good people make bad decision leading to irresolvable outcome.
The story takes place in the town of Point Partageuse, Australia during the 1920s. Such a great story! Sometimes life takes a bite out of you and just when you think you've seen the worst, it comes back for more. This was what Tom, Izz, Lucy and Hannah, plus so many other wonderful characters in this book, come to realize. My favorite sections were at the beginning, the lovely descriptions of the lighthouse and nature on Janus: how silent and pastoral it was and the idyllic little life that Tom and Isabel created together for themselves.
