This was a difficult book to read, and yet one I didn't want to put down. A story of loss, and love ... a story of life's ugly twists and turns ... good read, and will make great discussion for our book club!

Beautiful, absorbing,felt the joy and sorrow. depicts what happens when good people make bad decision leading to irresolvable outcome.
The story takes place in the town of Point Partageuse, Australia during the 1920s. The storyline is a bit far fetched but if you just go with it the story unfolds into an interesting moral choice. The book makes you feel bad for the character that you should not want to side with an odd Tony Soprano kind of way. Well written and worth reading.
Well written. Great characters and plot. A book you keep reading b/c you really want to find out what is going to happen next.
Such a great story! Sometimes life takes a bite out of you and just when you think you've seen the worst, it comes back for more. This was what Tom, Izz, Lucy and Hannah, plus so many other wonderful characters in this book, come to realize. My favorite sections were at the beginning, the lovely descriptions of the lighthouse and nature on Janus: how silent and pastoral it was and the idyllic little life that Tom and Isabel created together for themselves.

My heart is full and shattered at the same time. This is an emotional tale of difficult decisions and the consequences of our actions.
