Such an amazing book. At first I wasn't sure where the story was taking me, but by halfway through I was entranced.
Amy is such a marvelous character, and introducing her to Peter is so integral to the plot. This is very different from any vampire book I have read, much more subtle and I liked that immensely.
The characters that surround Amy and protect not only her but there kinfolk and friends work so well together. Sara really stood out, and I loved the way Justin Cronin worked her diary reco ...more

I love a good apocalyptic novel. Sadly, the passage was not that. I found the first third to be compelling enough, but then there is a massive time jump. I felt like the post virus world needed more setup than it got. As it was, I found myself not caring about any of the new characters, and not understanding the new world setup. Wow, I really enjoyed this book for the most part. I do think it is a little long and some parts dragged a bit, but I found it hard to put down most of the time. Looking forward to seeing what happens in the the next book, The Twelve.
