Although the book drew me in, at times it seemed Antoine dwelled heavily on the loss of his mother. Losing your mother at a young age is a traumatic event, but as a middle aged father, Antoine was at times mired in this loss. He used it as an excuse in the non-existant relationship with his father and in talking to his own kids.

3.5 stars. I loved Sarah's Key and wanted to read another book by this author. The plot of the sorry was good but the secret was not that much if a shocker. I think I may have had too high of an expectation going into this one. I did enjoy it for the most part though.

I really like this writer's style, but I didn't love this one as much as Sarah's Key. The secret wasn't really shocking, but the main character kept me interested. I'm always impressed when an author can convincingly write a main character of the opposite sex.
