This short story makes you never want to visit a library again! Another wonderful tale from the fantastic dreamworld of Murakami. The best way to describe this story is that it's like being beamed into one's REM-state nightmare.
Also, the trippy artwork and book binding from Chip Kidd seems handmade - it's so special that it makes you want to own a copy of the hard cover edition. Sad to say, I borrowed a copy from - egads! - the library. ...more

I had received a galley of this to review and never got around to it-and thank goodness because the ebook version of this book CAN NOT COMPARE to holding it in your hands. Second, it's short. I read it in an hour. Third, it managed to

I have read this before, but it is a quick tale so I gave it another listen as it qualified me for another completed step of a book challenge. This author’s books are difficult for me to enjoy, but always give me something to think about. And this one is entertaining enough to make a reread or enjoyment of a new format worthwhile.

Chip Kidd? Check. Murakami? Check. Awesomely Murakami-esque plot with amazing Chip Kidd book design? CHECK!
So how did this go so wrong? Kidd fans, rest assured he was still on point. But this story is a short story, if we are being generous, spread out with large font and full page art every other page. Either the translation was off or the writing in this stilted microstory was never looked at again after being written.
