Not my favorite Joe Hill. This is the first time that I've read one of his books and felt that a lot of the plot was lifted from his father's body of work. Maybe not line for line, but it just rung too familiar. It's hard to explain. In reading his other books, it has felt like he took the art and craft of his father and lifted it to a higher plane for a new generation of readers. Haven't read a scary book for ages. This one is a page turner, gripping yet engrossing since the first page. Ok, it's not really scary according to my standard, but the suspense kept me awake for a few nights. And that Craddock ghost appeared in my dreams. Yes, I should give Joe Hill a credit.
