I have mixed feelings about this book. For starters, I tried very hard not to hold this up to the Harry Potter series, and tried to view it as its own entity, but it was hard. The Potter series was so well written and so epic, that you would expect anything from Rowling to deliver the same punch. Sadly, this is not the case, and I don't think any author could pull it off.

An enthralling, well-written, chuckle-worthy, contemporary British mystery. I hope to read more of the Cormoran Strike series. Rowling is brilliant yet again.

I thoroughly enjoyed this. The characters were wonderfully written and colorful and the ending is definitely something I didn't see coming. Great first steps into the mystery genre and I can't wait to see how the next book goes :) ...more
