I'm glad I didn't pay attention to the comparisons with Gone Girl. I liked this one better. Not 3 stars good, but not 2 stars like Gone Girl.

It was nearly impossible to read The Girl on the Train without thinking of Gone Girl. A quick peek at the many reviews here indicate that this reader was not the only one with that exact experience. The Girl on the Train owes a lot to Gone Girl. It has a missing person who may or may not be dead. It has a truckload of secrets. It has multiple narrators, any of whom could be lying through her teeth at any given moment. It deals with poisonous relationships between people who are, for the most par

I am not sure if any of the characters in this story are truly likable, but the quick movement of the plot kept me interested enough to read this one all the way through to the end. I had a gut feeling early on of who the murderer really was and I guessed correctly. The only issue I had with the book was in the beginning when I had to constantly flip back and forth between the chapters to see if it was a flashback or present time. 5 stars for the writing that was done. Hawkins created an unsympathetic heroine that lets the reader into her head deeply enough that we care, instead of dismissing her like everyone else in the story. Rachel's blackouts were a perfect vehicle of suspense. Just a touch of foreshadowing...perfect.

A fantastic, gripping thriller. I would recommend this to anyone who likes thriller. Book is so engaging, captures all the character's perspective and feelings. Rachael, who is one of the character , is a messed up girl who want to do some thing that is meaningful .Rachael who commutes everyday by train, likes to observe from train and build her version of story. She was particularly attracted to a couple, whom she named Jess and Jason and weaved a happy life around them. Her intrigue on Jess an

While I have to admit this was a page-turner, and I kept reading, faster and faster because I wanted to know what was going to happen, I didn't particular "like" or relate to any of the characters very well. I thought the story got bogged down, going on and on and on with some repetitious details, lives that seemed to have the same bad things happening over and over. I have to admit, I was completely wrong about what I thought was going to happen in the end ... but overall was a little underwhel
