A good, fast paced, easy read. I loved the idea of watching someone else's life from the train...and then finding yourself involved in something you'd imagined...that was probably the creepiest part of this book. I have read others say that it is a twisted, messed up story, and certainly the characters are not normal (or are they?)...some have compared it to Gone Girl...I have not read that yet, so cannot make the comparison. But after reading other reviews on how "sick" and "twisted" this was,

I read this to see what the hubbub was about. This book has a huge waiting list at my library. I went in cold, no reviews and no idea what it was about. It's very readable. Great storytelling trance. I pounded it out in less than two days and found myself regretting that I couldn't get back to it. It's a thriller and I normally do not read thrillers, and there were some times I wanted to reach into the book and smack some of the characters. Some of it is believable when you read it, but then whe

Not bad. I liked the differing viewpoints and it was intriguing enough. But the characters lives depressed me, especially Rachel. I found myself just wanting to scream "get your own life!" At her.

Closer to 2.5 stars, but I'm still processing
This isn't terrible, but it just wasn't for me. I couldn't handle the gaslighting, manipulation, and abuse. The unreliable narrator angle is interesting (all three of them), but it's slow to start, predictable, and ultimately stressed me out too much to be considered an enjoyable read. The narration on the audiobook was excellent and really brought these horrendous people to life. ...more

Three and three quarters stars? A great page-turner up until about the last quarter of the novel, when the pacing started to drag for me. I know some people don't like this book because none of the main characters seem terribly likeable, and they don't, but that didn't bother me. Very good summer read.

I liked this thriller and it was great to read on a car use home from Michigan. I just thought it was a bit predictable. I also feel like all of the hype it was getting didn't help my opinion. Very much a page turner.

2.5, closer to 3 maybe? I don't know. Definitely a slow paced "mystery" (and I say "mystery" because I figured out the who-dunnit early.) Still better than Gone Girl, though. I think.
