This novel has been compared to Gone Girl which I really enjoyed. I may even have liked this one a tiny bit better. The girl on the train is one of three female narrators. I like the device of the train because the story rushes along like a train speeding down a track if that isn't too corny.
Reading this novel was for me like assembling a jig saw puzzle. OK here's a bit of information ie a puzzle piece. And it seems to fit here. And here's another. And I'm three quarters through the book and the ...more

A good, fast paced, easy read. I loved the idea of watching someone else's life from the train...and then finding yourself involved in something you'd imagined...that was probably the creepiest part of this book. I have read others say that it is a twisted, messed up story, and certainly the characters are not normal (or are they?)...some have compared it to Gone Girl...I have not read that yet, so cannot make the comparison. But after reading other reviews on how "sick" and "twisted" this was,

It was difficult to rate this one. On the one hand, it was lightning fast, unput-downable goodness! However, several incidents throughout gave me pause, jolted me from the story, and made me think "that would never happen" or "no one behaves this way". For the improbability of some of the plot and characters' actions, I gotta say 3 stars. But it was a fun 3 stars that I'll certainly recommend to anyone in need of a page turner!

Not bad. I liked the differing viewpoints and it was intriguing enough. But the characters lives depressed me, especially Rachel. I found myself just wanting to scream "get your own life!" At her.

I choose this for the 4th book in a 52 to week reading challenge, under the topic of book published this year.
Rating would probably more of a 3.5 Enjoyable read, hard to put down the further you get in the book. I would have like some greater plat and character development in some ares. Stated out not really like anyone in the book but perhaps Jason/Scott but that changed as everyone stories merged and grew. Rachel became sympathetic enough to wish for more for her.

Everyone compares this to Gone Girl and I hated that one so not sure why I thought this would be a good read.
The ending did take me by surprise but I hated all of the characters. Just as with GG, there was nobody to root for or feel sympathetic about. I wanted bad things to happen to all of them.
I rated it only slightly higher than GG.

I liked this thriller and it was great to read on a car use home from Michigan. I just thought it was a bit predictable. I also feel like all of the hype it was getting didn't help my opinion. Very much a page turner.
