Reading Challenge Category: A book that became a movie . . .
I found the movie version of Sarah's Key by chance while channel-surfing with my husband one night, and by the opening credits we were hooked. What a story--suspenseful, emotional, incredibly tragic. The movie was so well done. The book was well done, too, but knowing the plot going in--not having that element of suspense, that feeling of "oh my gosh, I've got to know what happens next"--took something away from my reading experience. ...more

Après avoir regardé et adoré le film dont vous pouvez retrouver ma chronique ICI, j'ai enfin décidé de lire ce livre. Elle s'appelait Sarah est un roman de Tatiana de Rosnay publié aux Editions Le livre de poche. Il traite de la seconde guerre mondiale et notamment de la Rafle du Vel'D'hiv à Paris. Globalement, j'ai bien aimé le livre mais les passages avec Julia ne m'ont pas plus plus que ça. Je suis tout de même contente de l'avoir lu même si j'ai préféré le film au final. I was completely riveted by Sarah's story in this book. It's a story that is so heartbreaking that you wish it was completely fiction, but these events really happened to people (even if not exactly in this way down to the precise detail) and it's important to know that and never forget. That part of the book was vividly written and I couldn't put it down. I did like the characters of Julia and her daughter, Zoe, and I think it was a good way to connect the story from 1942 with a more current ti
