What Members Thought

I loved the way this book was written. I was a little confused at first but picked up after a few chapters. This book made me want to go back and do some research and really try to understand history that I may have learned and didn't understand while in school. I really did not like Bertrand's character and I completely agree with her decisions near the end of the book but loved her daughter Zoe's character. Now onto the movie!

A very difficult subject matter to deal with, and to read about, this turned out to be an excellent story. It taught me a lot of history about the holocaust that I did not know ... about the French involvement in it. A heartbreaking story of a young Jewish girl and her family, intertwining with an American turned French journalist.

Wow, this is one of those rare books that will stay with you for a long long time. Not a pleasant subject matter, but very well written, informative, and gripping. I can't imagine what it was like as a parent during that time, living in constant fear and not knowing if you'd ever see your child again. Remember, never forget.
