A very difficult subject matter to deal with, and to read about, this turned out to be an excellent story. It taught me a lot of history about the holocaust that I did not know ... about the French involvement in it. A heartbreaking story of a young Jewish girl and her family, intertwining with an American turned French journalist.

An intriguing story about the life of a girl who locks her brother in a cupboard during the French round-up of Jews, thinking that she will be back shortly to release him. The story shows how greatly that one choice affects the rest of her life.

Excellent book. I loved the format. I never knew anything about the Paris involvement of gathering of Jews for transportation to camp during the occupation.
