It took a bit for me to get into this, and for a long time it was 3.5 to 4 stars for me, but the last 1/3 of the book really hit its stride and took off for me. And, of course, now I can't wait for the next book in the series and this one just came out! I esoecially love how many female characters are in this, how diverse they are, the fact that there's a LGBTQ character (Daniela), and how the women are all supportive of each other. Truly an engaging read for anyone who loves fantasy and wishes

Because I read so very little of it, I wasn't sure I should even consider it abandoned or just pretend it never happened. I couldn't even get through the prologue of this book. It's like the author wrote it and then re-wrote it with a thesaurus plopped firmly in her lap. So unnecessarily wordy.
