2016 Reading Challenge Category: A book you haven't read since high school.

I have to admit, I was a bit anxious about picking up Watership Down again for the first time in so many years, not only because I loved it so much in high school, and I was afraid of feeling let down by rereading it with adult eyes, but because this book changed my life. I read this book for the ATY 2022 Reading Challenge Week 36: two books related to flora and fauna. A clever book based to a degree on the scientific knowledge of rabbits and the biological and botanical environment of the downs in the United Kingdom. It also acknowledges the intelligence of animals to be able to make decisions and control their destinies. Delightful story...you would think a story about the adventures of rabbits searching for a new home would be boring. However, you couldn't be more wrong. This is a great tale, full of adventure and daring. You really care about the rabbits and root for them the whole way through. ...more
