This was an entertaining book with an interesting concept - cyborg Cinderella! I felt though that this book didn't exactly "nail it". There were a lot of unanswered questions and the characters didn't have a lot of background or depth. I'm not sure if I will read the next one or not. Perhaps just to see where the author is taking this series. ...more

I actually really enjoyed this book even if at times I really wanted to murder the main character, Cinder. It is definitely a clever and entirely re-imagined take on a classic tale. The interesting thing that I found surprising is that Cinders tale doesn't come to an end in this book. I had thought that the next in the series would probably be another re-imagined fairy tale but it is fact another installment on the fate of dear Cinder. I'm intrigued to see just how much more butt Cinder kicks in ...more

Pretty good book.. nothing to complex, just a different flip on Cinderella, enjoyed Cinder, the character, and liked the way Melissa Meyer added her spin on the story....will read Scarlett then Cress...

Shelves: ya, fantasy-scifi, apocalyptic-dystopian

Perhaps if I had read this book as a teenager I would have enjoyed it more, but I found the characterization to be a bit too simple, and the plot was extremely predictable. Also, the romance was very YA (not necessarily a bad thing). I highly enjoyed the cyborg Cinderella concept, and I will probably continue the series as I am super curious as to what will happen next.
