I loved this book. I have been a fan of Stephen King since his first book but lately most of his novels have been kind of "eh". His early works were scary and a lot of the recent ones were just gory. You don't need a lot of blood and guts to scare people.
Anyway, this book took a completely different path. No monsters, nothing supernatural, just a really good story. I've often wondered - and I bet many people have - about what you would do if you could travel in time. Would you stop the assassina ...more

Starting an 800 page book was pretty daunting, but the story's pacing and the way it is separated into sections made it a surprisingly quick read. The story only dragged a bit around the 500 page mark. I loved the characters King created, and the way real history entwined with those characters.

A novel based on a real person. I've read this before and enjoyed it very much. It's not strictly the horror that King is renowned for, but it is plenty spooky and suspenseful. Highly recommended.
