Though this book was hilarious and an absolutely addictive read, I was also saw it as an indictment of the powerlessness of women, even in these upper-crust societies. Ultimately every woman in the story was on the lower rungs of their very rigid social hierarchy, ALWAYS at the risk of being kicked down the ladder by the one who's a step higher. Subsequently, each woman is portrayed as keeping her mouth shut in the face of mistreatment by her 'higher-ups.' Sets a sad example for the kids, indeed
