The Night Circus tells the story of two magicians each trained by their own instructor in a different way. They have been raised as children one by her father and the other a stranger trained in different way. This isn’t the first time these two instructors have had a duel but it could be the last. This book was so good.
Celia and Marco are two magicians who are in a duel of skill in Le Cirque des Rêves. Everyone who works in the circus, in one way or another, gets involved as well.
So I thought the "duel" was something like a Harry Potter vs. Voldemort confrontation, but it's not. It's more subtle than that. I had a lot of expectations that didn't turn out correctly with this book. I thought some characters were definitely villains, but it turns out that they're not, or at least not exactl ...more

Maybe I'm too picky lately...
I really tried to LOVE this book as it is a Nanowrimo brainchild and, goodness knows, that makes me want to cheer! Unfortunately, while I did enjoy it, I did not love it.
No major complaints other than it moves a little slowly sometimes. I loved all the description of the magical circus elements and the intensity of the competition and relationship between Celia and Marco. I even adored most of the minor characters, but I felt some things were unexplained and didn't a ...more
