What an amazing book. First of all, it's about a golem and a jinni ... fantasty creatures, which give the book an "other-worldly" essence. Then, it's set in New York City during a time of major immigration, and gives us a realistic view of society there at that time. And amidst all this mixture of reality and fantasy, the book poses questions that are really interesting to contemplate: creation, gender roles, purpose in life, inherent characteristics (can we change them). Consumed as an audiobook. Somewhat tragic, but so good. Universal recommendation.

Huge kudos to the audiobook narrator, George Guidall. He provided Tim Gerard Reynolds-level narration, and that's about the highest compliment I could give. ...more
