It has been a good long while since last I read this novel, and I must admit to the suspicion that I liked it better now than I did then. I enjoy a book which pokes fun at a genre without being too unkind about it, and Austen succeeds in this, as she does in most other things, quite masterfully. I shall return to this story in the future with much greater pleasure of anticipation. love-the-narrator-s-voice
There was so much to enjoy in this book. The narrator was hilarious and as shady as a palm tree. The heroine, Catherine, was adorably naive (pulling off this combo seems rare). The love interest, Henry, was smart and kind (and not emotionally abusive). The best friend, Isabella, was ridiculously dramatic.
