What Members Thought

A magical trip to a different time and place is this book that begins in 1945 and suddenly dumps you in 1744. You make the trip through the eyes and thoughts of Claire Beauchamp Randall and during the trip you experience Scotland in the clan days before Bonny Prince Charlie returns to claim is father's throne from the British. You live in castles, abbeys, and crude huts. As a British nurse during World War II, you become a doctor ministering to illnesses, aches, pains, broken bones, and child de

3.5-4 stars. I struggled to connect during the first third of the book and thought it could have been shorter (there were just so many scenes that didn't seem to move the plot forward), but the writing was excellent, the love story was beautiful and there were some intense moments, especially towards the end. Not sure why, but this book was just OK for me. Maybe I am not that into the love story part of it. I am not really sure. I knew for sure I didn't like the book when Nessie showed up in it.
This isn't a bad book, it just isn't my type of book. It also made me realize I didn't want to complete the 2015 reading challenge. I don't want to read books I don't like any more ...more
