This book is WEIRD. That said, the characters are interesting enough I want to keep following and once you get into the rhythm of the book it becomes much easier to follow it. I liked the theme that kept repeating through the last few chapters. There's quite a lot of repetition in the book that helped me get in a groove while I was reading it.
