Honestly, and believe me on this: I wanted to like it so bad. I wanted to. I tried. I kept telling myself "something will happen, and I'll like it more later! The writing will get better, the characters will redeem themselves, I'll like it. Something magical will happen and I'll fall in love with it and I won't have wasted my time reading this novel."

Unputdownable, if only for its salacious, so-close-to-reality themes. I legitimately only stopped reading to eat, and then spent lunch telling my husband all about it. I'm trying to separate books that I can't stop reading from books that I can't stop reading that are also amazing literature. This falls pretty soundly in the former, but lots of credit for writing in two distinct voices and making me gasp in the way I rely on other trite-but-awesome shit like American Horror Story to make me gasp

Wow. Just. Wow. Extraordinarily well written. But every character is completely despicable and I didn't find myself rooting for any of them. But it takes a grand writer, I think, to make me hate a bunch of people so completely.

Loved 95% of this book. So many twists and turns and surprises. I won't give away the ending but I will say I was terribly unsatisfied by it.
