Perhaps it was just me but I didn't enjoy this like so many others did. It took me a really long time to get through it as it just didn't excite me. I think one of the most exciting parts was with the dragon. I sure hope Lord of the Rings is a better read for me!

With the new film, it was time to revisit the old classic. Glad I did. While as a child (it must be nearly 20 years since I last read the book), I read it as a jolly tale of adventure, it has whole other depths in reserve for an adult reader who is at least well read in Tolkien's works.

Reading for the first time to see when Roanin might be ready for it. It was a great kid-level pre-Halloween read. That's about my level of scary. :)
