Chbosky captures so much so well. The angst of the American high school experience as experienced just a few years before my time rings true, if a bit white, alternative cliche. It’s written with authenticity and earnest purpose.

Perhaps my expectations were too high. Maybe I read this book (as my co-worker pointed out) "out of it's time." Could it be because I listened on audiobook?
Overall the book was solid. I enjoyed it very much but didn't think it was as groundbreaking as some people say. My co-worker said when it originally came out it was ground breaking. Maybe I read this book after it's relevance expired.

Interesting idea for a book. Didn't like how the book tried to wrap up everything at the end because I felt that the new information warranted a few more chapters. Curious as to how this book was portrayed in the movie.
