I could relate to this book remembering what it was like as a naive and shy HS freshman. The author drew me in on that count - feeling like I was back in HS. All the things he experienced are what most High School kids deal with today (and early 90's). Some things never change and especially that feeling of "wanting to be accepted". I can see where High School kids and YA's would rate this a 4 or 5 just because they are so close to it. ...more

I have loved Holden Caulfield for a long time.
But Charlie is a young man who speaks to me more. Part of me cannot believe I waited this long to read this amazing book. Another part of me wishes I could read it all over again, for the first time. Do not let this book go unread.

Perhaps my expectations were too high. Maybe I read this book (as my co-worker pointed out) "out of it's time." Could it be because I listened on audiobook?

Overall the book was solid. I enjoyed it very much but didn't think it was as groundbreaking as some people say. My co-worker said when it originally came out it was ground breaking. Maybe I read this book after it's relevance expired.

There's not a lot I want to say about this book honestly. It was good. I would recommend it for sure.
