This book is extremely well written, enough that it drew me into a story that I did not really like much at all. The parts about the painting "The Goldfinch" were very good ... but I would say that was only about 100 of the 771 pages. Much of it centers on a young boy, growing into a young man, in all the worst possible ways. Through many tragedies in his life, and no one really to care for him, he becomes a drunk, drug addict, and basically, a thief. He has some friends that help him down that

I read this book at the start of the year, I don't remember a lot about this book but I do remember I couldn't put it down. I'm looking forward to re-reading it and writing a better review :)

The length of this book kept me away from it more than once. I can say that I'm glad I listened to the audiobook rather than reading the physical copy. There were times that I really felt it getting lengthy and tedious and wasn't sure if I should keep listening. But I would and eventually the story line would pick up again. I think there are some good qualities in the book but unfortunately for me it tended to get lost in the exhaustive length.
