Wow. I loved the movie when it went out and saw it many times but only learned recently. That it was inspired from a novel, so I had to read it. First, it was a good surprise to see that the movie was very respectful of the book. Second, this book is so intense and surprisingly deep in the characters psychology that I was literally hooked from the first to the last page. It's a must read and now I have to watch the movie again!

I've seen the movie several times now and it was brilliant, so I was really looking forward to reading this book. I might have to get my hands on a Japanese copy and read that as well at some point.
The book contains so much more detail and character depth than the film counter part. Both have their high points, and both are great in their own right.
