So I finally read this book. This rating was a real struggle for me. Every woman I know has said – “it is my favorite book of all time.” Then I ask, “how old were you when you read it.” Most say – they read it multiple times in their teen years. My confession is that for years I've pretended that I had read Gone With the Wind. I am sure I had skimmed it and I had seen the movie, but I had never read the entire 1000 page book. So this year I decided to read the whole thing once and for all.

Well, that only took a month! I'll probably have to surrender my man-card for saying this, but this "classic" of American literature is well-deserved of its title. Scarlett O'Hara is one the most interesting and intriguing characters that I have read about in a long time. The most amazing and entertaining part of this novel is the development of the characters. No main character, save perhaps Melanie, is the same at the end of the novel as at the beginning. They all change and change each other
